The MG-42 (MachinenGewehr 1942 or Machine Gun 1942) is a powerful and destructive general purpose machine gun that hailed from Nazi Germany. The weapon is well known to be one of the best conventional machine guns designed and used by any country in the world.
History[]
The MG-42 was designed after Germany realized that the tides of the war were turning against them and the other Axis-Powers. They were under the gun and therefore resources, time and manufacturing was getting slowing and as a result, weapons like the MG-34 and even the Luger P08 were becoming harder to manufacture. Eventually, Mauser introduced a new weapon that would replace their need for so many precious resources; the weapon was the MG-42.
It started production in 1942 and already the weapon proved itself as the superior weapon to the MG-34. It would also be utilized by the Germans during their defense on the sands of the beaches in Normandy, France against oncoming Allied Forces. The weapon earned the nickname "Hitler's Buzzsaw" due to it's extraordinarily high rate of fire. It did have a weakness however and that was that the barrel needed to be changed everytime when gun crews needed to reload because the gun was not water cooled and it would take a bit for the barrel already placed in the weapon to cool before firing again.

Fanon Usage[]
In Friend of a Nazi, it is mainly seen as Mounted and is used by the Nazis. however, The Nazis can also use it as a portable weapon as well. The Portable MG42 uses 50 round drums but it can be extended to a whopping 250 rounds using the extended mags upgrade.
